Thomas Pynchon: Stoner, Tour Guide

Wired has a great article and map this morning on author and complete savant Thomas Pynchon. Seems he lived in LA during the late 60’s- early 70’s while writing Gravity’s Rainbow. Notorious for his reclusive ways and copious chiba-chiba huffing, the map details his somewhat auto-biographical existence while in LA. Interesting Shizah.

Got the Design Within Reach catalog at the lab this morning. While I want to slap myself for drooling over it. I have to ask who the hell can afford to live like this? Let alone if you can, what happens when you have dogs or god forbid children? As a little tyke I lived solely for destroying shit (70’s cop dramas and looney tunes will warp a foo.) I can only imagine the horror my parents would experience had they dropped 7k on a table only to find me in my fruit of the looms, donning flexed inflatable Hulk muscles, wielding a plastic battle ax upon it’s old growth cheery wood grain. Guess there’s a reason young impressionable minds are surrounded by plastic.
